IS THAT OKAY? is a collaborative exhibition between MAP Contemporary , Women Geared for Growth and Wits School of Arts - Drama For Life. The exhibition focuses on finding ways to empower women through self-sustainability.
A solo exhibition by Oupa Sibeko, Reeds of Iqhawe: Influences of Butoh on Iqhawe, is a dance of the inside out, a thinking body, a body that is becoming, a dance exploring the connectedness of the body, mind and soul to the effect that it influences growth, stability and consciousness.
Art2Go is meant to showcase the diverse talents of the artists we had the pleasure of featuring in exhibitions during our inaugural year as M.A.P. Contemporary. This group show pays homage to their incomparable enthusiasm and talent.
The inspiration for this exhibition is found in the core symbolic meaning of the number “2”. In principle it signifies the inherent dualism which lies at the very core of man’s existence.
August House is an unassuming art deco light industrial building situated in End Street, Doornfontein. Upon entering the building and its maze of dark passages, behind many a closed doors you will find some of the most exciting up and coming and established practicing artists that Jozi’s vibrant art scene has to offer. Inside the artists individual brightly lit studio’s is where we found inspiration to compile a show featuring some of these artists.
