Marguerite Visser was born in Upington in 1985, coming from a family of farmers and teachers, and grew up in the mining town of Kimberley. From a young age she received formal recognition for her art in the form of awards and selections for competitions. She completed her B.A. Fine Arts degree at the University of the Free State (Bloemfontein) in 2007 with a major in painting. Since then she has exhibited in various group exhibitions and formed part of various collaborations. Exhibitions include Grahamstown Arts Festival, ABSA KKNK, Oliewenhuis Art Museum and ABSA Gallery.
For the last 4 years or so she has focused on developing her own artistic voice, rather than exhibiting. Since February 2017 she has been working as a full-time artist.
Marguerite reads widely, believes you have to initiate change in yourself and your environment, and is interested and inspired by the inconceivable abundance and variety of things in existence and experiences to be had.
